On Wednesday 31 July 2024, NSW based SOUL members attended Sydney SOULSTICE hosted at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS). It was an at capacity event, with well over 50 colleagues joining from universities across NSW.

This was an afternoon to meet and connect locally, and engage with brilliant speakers at informal yet informative talks, followed by SOUL sponsored networking drinks.

We heard an engaging panel discussion on Navigating Conflicts of Interest in Universities, with Joseph McCarthy – Director, Aspen Legal, Derek Minihane – Partner, Deloitte IP Advisory, and Dr Tania Bezzobs – Director - Research Office, UTS and President Australasian Research Management Society, moderated by Dawnie Evans – UTS, Director of SOUL.  

A Fireside Chat on Higher Education followed with Harriet Eager and Tom Fletcher who co-lead Minter Ellison’s Higher Education Practice, moderated by Kylie Gould, General Counsel and Executive Director Risk & Compliance – UTS.
