SOUL/NACUA Scholarships - Closing date for submission COB Friday 2nd March 2018
Published: 8 February 2018
Dear SOUL members,

Once again the SOUL executive has approved two scholarships to attend the NACUA Conference in Minneapolis, USA scheduled for the dates June 24 - 27, 2018. The executive is offering two scholarships of $7000 each to assist the selected members to attend this premier (overseas) University lawyer conference. The selected recipients will be required to:
  • to report back at the 2018 SOUL AGM in October regarding their topic and findings (5-10 minute presentation with slides being shared with members); and
  • convene a session at the Annual Conference on a topic of relevance to SOUL and relating to their topic.
If you would like to be considered for one of the scholarships, please forward a brief application setting out your proposal to attend the conference. Applications will be assessed against the potential benefits of the proposed topic:
  • to SOUL;
  • to your university and the higher education sector; and
  • to you personally
  • how you intend to engage with NACUA colleagues
The 2018 NACUA conference program is not yet available on line, please check the NACUA website regularly for updates as you may like to refer to the program for an indication of trending topics. Your submission is to be no more than 3 pages.

Past applications have included side-visits to other US Universities for an expanded view on matters such as clinical trials, the student experience, handling of sexual harassment, relationships with Law Schools and other topics equally relevant to SOUL and the sector. Preference will be given to members who have not previously received a scholarship, those with a strong research topic and members whose Universities would be otherwise unlikely to support professional development by way of an international legal conference.

Closing date for submission is COB Friday 2nd March 2018, by email to Jacqueline Brown.
